The Lumberjacks and Hawks had a tough battle in Cloquet, September 25, 2010. Hermantown scored the lone goal of the game just 2:01 into the first half on a Melissa Madison shot on goal that got under a diving Kenzie Rathe. Both teams went back and forth the next 78 minutes but neither could find the back of the net. The Jacks hit a post, a crossbar, and then were robbed by Hawks goalkeeper Alexa Peterson, all in a span of about 20 seconds in the second half. Cloquet's Rachel Rowenhorst got control of the ball behind a challenging goalkeeper, but the ball was knocked away by Hermantown's Mackenzie Herzig. Also in the half Hermantown put a shot off the crossbar of the Cloquet net, then headed a ball that just hit the top of the crossbar and rolled down behind the net, and Cloquet had a free kick in close to the Hawks' net, but misfired on the play.
