Finally, A Blog Update

With the busy fall season happening, I haven’t gotten around to posting a blog update of games shot, but here comes one!

This past week I cleaned up the front page of viewthroughmylens.net be creating a separate high schools page with links to the Cloquet, Barnum, Carlton, Esko, and Duluth Northern Stars pages rather than having 5 separate links on the front page of the website.  Now you click the high schools link and choose which school you want to look for pictures of.

I shot a bunch of CEC Lumberjacks boys soccer early in their season and a couple Cloquet girls soccer, including their rivalry matchup 2-1 loss at Esko/Carlton.

Esko's Dallas Cossalter battles Cloquet's Carley Esse and Kristi Konietzko in front of the Lumberjacks goal

Esko Football lost to Braham 48-26

Max Reinertsen runs the ball during a football battle with Braham

Shot a bunch of early season Cloquet, Carlton, and Esko volleyball matches.

Senior hitter Emily Fossen hits against Grand Rapids' Dakota Flohaug

Esko's Stephanie Bandelin hits over Virginia's Kristen Predovich during the Eskomos 5 set win

Cole Johnson hauls in a Kellin Lamirande pass vs Mora

FDLTCC Thunder football starts the season 1-2, Volleyball drops home opener

Thunder Running back John Brown makes a move after getting through the line

With so much going on I may have missed some updates, so check the bottom of viewthroughmylens.net for the scrolling updates!

New Updates, Cloquet Baseball To State!

Click the blog title to view the website front page...

Since I last updated way back on May 19, I've shot a bunch of Baseball games, and some of the Section 7AA baseball and softball playoff games...

Cloquet headed North to Hibbing the 21st/22nd of May for their annual appearance in the Wood Bat Tournament...Winning 2 and losing 1 game.

Section 7AA Softball 'Final Four' on June 1st that set up the Section championship that Hermantown won, defeating Duluth Central in 2 straight games to earn a State berth.  Greenway and Duluth Denfeld were eliminated in game play this day at Braun Park in Cloquet.

Cloquet baseball's 'South' subsection Final Four with Virginia, Proctor, and International Falls took place June 8th at Wade Stadium, with the Lumberjacks winning 2 games on the day.

And Finally, on June 10th, the Section 7AA Finals Between Cloquet and Hermantown:

For the first time since 1975, the Cloquet Lumberjacks are headed back to the baseball State Tournament! Needing to beat Hermantown TWICE at Wade Stadium, Tyler Tollerud battled Hermantown hitters to a 2-0 shutout win in the first game, keyed by Peter LaCourse dropping the first pitch he saw in the 7th to right field to score 2 runs. The second game, Hermantown had a 3-0 lead when the Jacks came up in the 5th inning, which became a 4-3 deficit as Cloquet put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Hermantown tied the game in the top of the seventh and forced extra innings when Cloquet didn't score in the bottom of the 7th, then took a 6-4 lead in the top of the 8th inning. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Kyle Becker pounded a ball to center field, with the basees loaded, to tie the game with August Reynolds and Adam Hanson scoring. Peter LaCourse then again finished off Hermantown on the first pitch he saw, plating the winning run of Corbin Morse from third on a single. Adam Hanson earned his second pitching win in as many days, this time in relief of starter Connor Stowell. Cloquet's first state tournament baseball game in 35 years takes place at Dick Putz field in St. Cloud, June 17th at 10 AM against Mankato East.

Chad Calcaterra scored 42 points to lead the Lumberjacks to a 67-52 win over the Virignia Blue Devils December 15, 2009. The game was relatively close until midway through the second half when Calcaterra put on a show with three dunks and numerous other baskets at close range.

RaRa Jones had 11 points as well

I had a request this week for this seasons FDLTCC Thunder basketball photos, and I will finally get to soome games, January 4th against Gogebic and January 6th against Northland. CEC Boys Drop Home Opener to Virginia

Click the blog title to view game pictures.

The Lumberjack boys held their own against a tough Virignia Blue Devils team through 2 and 1/2 periods being down only 1-0 and putting a lot of shots on the Virginia net.  Two defensive lapses allowed Virginia to put the game away, scoring two goals in the final 7 minutes of the third period.
