The Lumberjack girls basketball team's strong team effort defeated the Duluth East Greyhounds 59-50 in Cloquet, February 23, 2010. Annabel Morrisroe scored 28 points to lead the Jacks, who moved the ball well on offense to keep the Greyhounds off balance on defense.

For Senior Night, the Lumberjacks faced Providence Academy of Plymouth, MN for the first ever, February 25, 2010. The first half was close, but Providence Academy pulled away in the second half of the game.

For the second time in a month, the Thunder won a close game against Itasca Community College. The difference from the double overtime game in January was, the Thunder came from behind twice and won the game 68-67 in regulation. The Thunder were down 11-0 in the first 3:23 and 15-3 after the first 8 minutes, before going on a 16-7 run over the next 5 minutes. Down by only 1 at halftime the second half was back and forth with the Thunder having a 51-48 lead with 9:22 left, then down 63-56 with only 3:33 remaining in the game. A 12-4 Thunder run capped by a Curtis Houle 3 with 20 seconds left gave the Thunder their 68-67 win. Itasca's Jared Sutherland had one final shot at the game winner but had the ball stolen by the Thunder's Justin Roberts to seal the victory at the Lester Jack Briggs Cultural Center Gymnasium.

The Lumberjacks lost to the Duluth East Greyhounds 4-3 at the CARC February 9, 2010. Duluth East got off to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Kenny Mellin and Nate Repensky. The Lumberjacks answered in the second period on goals by Jack McFarlane and Adam Hanson. Dom Toninato scored twice in the third period, to give Duluth East a 4-2 lead. With 1:08 left in the third period, and goaltender John Scheuer pulled, the Lumberjacks put immense pressure on Duluth East goaltender Josh Jeanetta, and Cloquet's Mark Savage buried the puck to make the score 4-3. Duluth East tried to let Cloquet tie the game, icing the puck and allowing Scheuer to be pulled again, but the Jacks couldn't get the tying goal as time ran out. Scheuer finished with 29 saves on 33 shots while Jeanetta stopped 23 of 26 shots for the win.

The Lumberjacks got a 51 save performance from goaltender John Scheuer, and an overtime goal from Mark Savage to defeat the Hermantown Hawks 3-2 at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center. Connor Hady opened the scoring for Hermantown, and was answered by a Jack McFarlane powerplay goal. Tony Wilcox gave the Jacks a 2-1 lead, which was then answered by the Hawks Cody Christopherson. Tyler Ampe stopped 23 of 26 Cloquet shots in the loss.

On Senior night, the Lumberjacks defeated the Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets 1-0 at the CARC February 1, 2010. Courtney Esse scored the Cloquet goal on a backhand in the first period, for the only goal of the game. Sarah Gustafson got the shutout win for the Lumberjacks, and Dory Johnson for the Bluejackets took the loss, despite stopping 37 of 38 shots she faced.
They played a great overall game but the Lumberjacks lost 2-1 to a tough Andover team at the CARC, January 30, 2010. Cal Decowski scored in the first period for Andover, and Nick Michaud scored in the second period for Cloquet. Taylor Portner scored the game winning goal for Andover with 19 seconds left in the third period.

The Lumberjack girls hockey team, behind 24 Nicole Lund saves, shut out the Duluth Northern Stars at the Heritage Center, January 28, 2010. Melissa Clark got the Jacks on the board in the second period, and Emily Gustafson scored with just over two minutes left in the third to give the 2-0 final score.

The Thunder men defeated the Itasca CC Vikings 71-68 in Grand Rapids, January 20, 2010. The back and forth game included 13 lead changes and 11 ties, and 50 fouls called between the two teams. The Thunder made up for 12 of 26 shooting free throws by shooting 42% from 3 pt range with 11 of 26 3's made. Travis Huesers lead the Thunder with 19, while LaDarius Frazier scored 15 and Greg Gillespie scored 13. Itasca kept themselves in the game by making 24 of 38 free throws and getting 22 offensive rebounds, to make up for shooting 32%.

On Saturday, the Thunder women played Vermillion Community College tough in the first half, down 27-36 at halftime. The bigger Vermillion team pulled away in the second half to secure their victory.

On Friday, the Thunder men took Mesabi CC to two overtimes, before losing 85-81, in a fast up-and-down game in Cloquet, January 15, 2010. The night was 'wear orange' or 'orange crush' night and included door prizes and a freethrow contest for fans.

On Saturday, The Thunder men led Vermillion CC by 10 midway through the first half, and by 4 at halftime, Saturday, January 16, 2010. By the 8 minute mark of the second half, Vermillion had a 68-62 lead that led to an 84-72 Vermillion victory over the Thunder.

The Lumberjacks got on the board first, but Superior scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead to intermission. The Jacks tied the game at 3, then at 4, but had no answer for Superior's 5th goal, the game winner for a 5-4 victory, despite outshooting the Spartans 39-27.
Despite 31 from Annabel Morrisroe, the Cloquet Lumberjacks basketball team lost to the Bemidji Lumberjacks in Cloquet, January 12, 2010. Six-foot-three, University of Minnesota recruit, junior Kayla Hirt scored 40 for Bemidji, and as a team they recorded a double digits in blocked shots.

Fox Sports North brought their High School Hockey Night to Duluth's Heritage Sports Center for a double header, with Duluth East tying Blaine 2-2, and Duluth Denfeld defeating Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 3-1. The first set of pictures on the page is East/Blaine, while the second is Denfeld/Cloquet.
